Welcome to The Vermont River Conservancy

Popular local swimming holes, breathtaking gorges and waterfalls, fishing and boating accesses, paddlers’ trails and meandering river corridors throughout Vermont are all being protected by the Vermont River Conservancy for this and future generations to enjoy.
The Vermont River Conservancy protects public access, wildlife habitat, clean waters, scenic natural beauty and ecological integrity by conserving undeveloped land along rivers, lakes and wetlands of Vermont. Since 1995, working in cooperation with state and federal agencies, municipalities and other conservation organizations, VRC has completed over 40 projects around the state.
A new initiative of VRC follows on tropical storm Irene. VRC is exploring holding lands subject to severe flooding in the future as determined scientifically.

With your help, popular local swimming holes, breathtaking gorges and waterfalls, fishing and boating accesses, paddlers’ trails and meandering river corridors throughout Vermont are all being protected for this and future generations to enjoy.

Together we can protect public access, wildlife habitat, clean waters, scenic natural beauty and ecological integrity by conserving undeveloped land along rivers, lakes and wetlands. We seek to both protect public access, preserve water quality, and to alleviate the impacts of severe flooding in our communities.

Unfortunately, with increasing frequency our beautiful Vermont waters are off limits. Help us keep this from happening. Since 1995, your support has enabled us to work in cooperation with state and federal agencies, municipalities and other conservation organizations to complete over 40 projects around the state.  Together we have purchased land and conservation easements from willing sellers and accepted donations of land for conservation purposes. With you as a partner, we can continue this work – and do even more.

Please support our work by contributing as others have. There are many ways to make a contribution. Your gift will help ensure both public access and healthy rivers for generations to come.
