Ginny Garrison
Ginny grew up in New Jersey spending weekends and summers escaping to the Catskills and camping with her family throughout the U.S. She spent two summers in college teaching inner-city children about the environment in city parks. Ginny moved to Vermont immediately after college and worked for the VT Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Quality Division for over 34 years, the last 25 as Chief of the Lakes and Ponds Management and Protection Section. A major focus of her work there was protecting the high quality of Vermont’s lakes and ponds and she is excited to continue her lake protection work through the VRC’s efforts to conserve land bordering Vermont’s waters and provide public access to those waters. Ginny has served on the Board of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) representing New England, was a founding member of the New England Chapter of NALMS, a member of the Moretown Planning Commission and the Central Vermont Audubon Society Board of Directors, and currently serves on the Board of the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds. She lives in Hardwick with her partner Mike on the farm where he was raised.
